The first ceramics symposium organised by the in Belgium seated The Last House International art association / Het Laatste Huis vzw.
in cooperation with the International Ceramic Centre of Janja Gora in Croatia. Open for all ceramists that want to join us there.

From the 1. to 11. August this year we have organized our first international gathering of the 20 artist from Belgium, Holland, Poland, Serbia and Croatia. It was a great success with very satisfied participants. We have lay down the first stone of our International Ceramic Centre, and have made a future plans of our programs and goals. This year meeting was characterized by open minded people, great atmosphere in beautiful nature surrounding, with tasty food and lots of local ingredients. Under the leading hand of dr. Lou Smedts of the Belgian ceramics association ‘Het Laatste Huis’, participants where able to learn how to build a gas kiln, how to use ashes and other materials from direct surroundings to decorate there work.

There has been demonstration of a paper kiln, salt and soda kiln and raku, traditional Japanese technique of firing and glaze making. Next year there will be a two weeks workshop, that is going to include a few days of excursions in the area. We are going to start building a big ANAGAMA, a wood fired kiln that is going to be used two times a year and is going to be able to receive great amount of work brought there by the artist from al over the world who wants to experiences the great wood fire kiln.
