Ceramist colony 2008 - The sun sofa

Japodies totem

This year we al together are going to build a sculpture, 'Sofa of the sun' that is going to become a part of are sculpture park at the atelier Janja Gora. We are going to build it with paper-clay. In the years to come al those monumental works are going to be dedicated to the magic forces of nature. After a 'Japodes totem' we carry on with 'The sun sofa'. It is a big sculpture piece that is going to be build according to the drawing and plans. Each participant is going to put her/his personal mark on the piece.

Paperclay
A part of this year workshop is a use and preparation of the paper clay. Made of the paper and (often) left over clay, this clay has a good strength and is flexible enough to build sculptural pieces and tiles. We are going to prepare this clay for use, and are going to learn al ins and outs about it. And of course, we are al together going to have quality time and great fun.

Thursday 14. 8. 2008.
Arrival at the atelier, welcome speech and beginning of the work (preparation of the paper-clay).

Saturday, 16. 8. 2008.
Today we are going to do some sightseeing in the area, work further on the project and finish day with the traditional diner at some peasant place. We are also going to prepare works for the pit-fire for the next day.

Sunday 17. 8. 2008.
Morning

- preparation for the open day

From 13.00 - 16.00 open day at the atelier - presentation of the works and participants

Take with you ...
- max. 5 biscuit piece for the pit-fire
- max. 5 representative pieces for personal presentation on the open day

Participation and prices
If you like the program you can join. It does not matter if you are professional ceramist, or just somebody who would like to share the experience. That is what it is al about, the experience of building the sculpture together. Maximum number of the participants is a 13.
